FAQ: GUIDELINES FOR AN INFORMED PURCHASE EXPERIENCE (Your purchase indicates acceptance of these guidelines)

Q) Clarity on Descriptions and Pictures
A) The images we present accurately depict the condition of the watch and are exclusively captured by us, ensuring authenticity. Even if we mention "signs of use," it may not necessarily imply visible wear. This terminology aligns with the standard classification on Chrono24 for pre-owned watches. For further details or additional images, please reach out to us. Our commitment is to provide buyers with precisely what is depicted in the listing's images. Should any descriptions conflict with the visuals, please contact us for clarification.

Q) Requesting Additional Photos
A) Each listing features comprehensive imagery, typically up to 5 photos per watch, all taken by us to faithfully represent its condition. However, we're open to providing further photos upon request.

Q) Conditions of Pre-owned Watches
A) While we meticulously select watches in excellent condition, it's important to acknowledge that a pre-owned watch, particularly one 10-15 years old, may show signs of aging. For instance, leather accessories within the package may exhibit deterioration, or certain components might display indications of previous use. We strive to ensure the overall best condition considering the watch's age, though we cannot guarantee every part or accessory to be brand new.

Q) Guarantee of Receiving as Advertised
A) Rest assured, through the Chrono24 portal, you're guaranteed to receive precisely what's advertised. In the unlikely event of discrepancies, you're entitled to a full refund upon return. Buyers are responsible solely for return shipping costs. Refunds are processed once the watch is returned to us.

Q) Bracelet Size Assurance
A) Please note that the watch will be supplied with the links displayed in the photos. Prior to purchase, we encourage customers to contact us regarding wrist size compatibility. Following receipt, complaints regarding bracelet size will not be accepted. Any return must ensure the product remains intact and in its original condition at the time of purchase. Any new signs of wear or damage may result in compensatory deductions.

Q) Availability of Production Year Information
A) The precise production year is known only to the manufacturer. If undisclosed in the advertisement, it's because we lack this information, and the guarantee date isn't specified either. An approximate production year based on the serial number is provided in the listing, serving as non-binding information in the sales contract.

Q) Official Dealer Status
A) We're not official dealers; our company specializes in pre-owned and unworn watches.

Q) Insurance Coverage for Shipments
A) Yes, all our shipments are fully insured for the watch's total value. We dispatch watches from Monday to Thursday.

Q) Watch Testing and Functionality
A) Absolutely, all watches are guaranteed to be original and of legal origin, and they undergo thorough testing by our Master Watchmakers, who are certified experts in all Swiss brands. Each watch is tested before shipment, and we guarantee correct functioning for six months.

Q) Warranty Coverage
A) Our watches come with a 12-month warranty. This warranty covers potential movement malfunctions but excludes any damage resulting from water infiltration or flooding.
New watches are typically covered by the manufacturer's international warranty. For pre-owned watches, please note that the movement's performance and power reserve may vary from the original manufacturer specifications, depending on usage and age.

All watches are thoroughly tested before shipment, and any necessary servicing is carried out to ensure quality and functionality.

Q) Water Resistance Clarifications
A) Unless specifically indicated with a waterproof test receipt in the listing's photos or description, the watch is sold as non-waterproof. Water resistance statements on Chrono24 listings reflect the manufacturer's declaration at the time of production, which may differ from current performance, especially in pre-owned watches. We recommend consulting a trusted watchmaker for a water resistance test before exposing the watch to water activities.

Q) Location of Watch Stock
A) All immediately available watches are stocked in Austria and shipped from there. Purchases within Europe do not incur additional costs such as import duty or VAT.

Do you have any questions?

Certified is our new certification service, where verified watchmakers check and certify the authenticity of watches purchased on our marketplace. We want to provide buyers of luxury watches on Chrono24 with a completely worry-free purchasing experience.
1. Look out for listings with the white Certified icon

You can recognize Chrono24 Certified watches by the white icon with the letter "C" on the search results pages and respective listing pages. Of course, you can also use search filters to find Certified listings faster. Once you have decided on a Certified watch, you can see at a glance on the listing page whether it is a Partner Certified or Chrono24 Certified watch. See also: What is the difference between Partner Certified and Chrono24 Certified?

2. Testing by Chrono24 watchmakers

After you have booked certification as part of Chrono24 Certified, your watch will be tested and certified by verified watchmakers at our certification center. This includes an authenticity check and a function test. See also: How is the watch tested?

3. You will receive your certified watch including a digital certificate of authenticity

After successful certification, you can be sure that your new watch is genuine. This is confirmed with a digital Certificate of Authenticity and an authenticity guarantee. You can access the Certificate of Authenticity in your Chrono24 account after receiving the watch.
Chrono24 Buyer Protection provides complete security for your payment. If you buy from a professional dealer, we hold the purchase amount in our escrow account for 14 days after you have received your watch. That way, your money is safe and secure until you're fully satisfied with the watch. Only then do we send the money to the dealer. If you’re not satisfied, you can exercise your legal right of withdrawal and return your watch to the dealer within 14 days of receipt without giving a reason. If you purchased your watch from a private seller, we hold the purchase amount in our escrow account for 7 days after you have received your watch. Please note, however, that there is no legal right of withdrawal when purchasing from a private seller.

You can identify Chrono24 Certified watches by the white Certified icon in the search results pages and respective listings. Since we’re constantly adding new watches to our Certified program, it’s worth periodically checking your favorite watches for the Certified icon.
You can add certification to your purchase and pay the fee alongside the price of the watch.€249 We will only issue you an invoice for the certification service upon request.
All Certified watches are comprehensively checked against specific criteria by a verified watchmaker. This is the only way we can guarantee the authenticity of your watch. The check includes the following:

Authenticity check: The authenticity of the watch is checked both inside and out. We also check to make sure the watch meets our definition of authenticity. See: How do we define authenticity?

Functionality check: We test the watch's complications, winding mechanism, chronograph function, and more. See: How do we define authenticity?

Scope of delivery check: All additional items, such as the original box and papers (if included), are checked for completeness and conformity with the model reference.

Theft check: The watch's serial number is checked against leading stolen watch databases. This ensures that the watch hasn't been stolen or otherwise lost by its rightful owner.
The certification process normally takes 1–3 business days.
The Certificate of Authenticity is a digital document that cannot be lost, stolen, or damaged. Once you have received the watch, you will find the certificate in your Chrono24 account. After logging in, you can access it either under the menu item "Buy" or in your Watch Collection.
According to our definition of authenticity, a watch is considered genuine if it is either in its original condition (as made by the manufacturer) or has no more than two non-original, non-branded replacement parts. Permitted aftermarket parts are: crown, bezel, hands, or pushers.

Based on our more than 20 years of experience in the watch industry, we believe that replacing a maximum of 2 essential parts with non-branded aftermarket parts does not affect the authenticity of a watch, as these play an important role in maintaining the functionality of watches. However, any aftermarket parts must be noted in the listing. In addition, the watchmakers will note any deviations from the original condition on the Certificate of Authenticity.

Customized or modified watches as well as non-authentic or counterfeit watches cannot be certified. More detailed information can be found in our information brochure: “Chrono24’s Definition of Authenticity.”
Each watchmaker working at our certification center has all the necessary qualifications and technical equipment available to certify watches from specific brands. If Chrono24 Certified is an optional add-on for a watch, the model can be certified by one of our watchmakers. Should any shortcomings arise during the certification process, we will of course assume responsibility in accordance with our authenticity guarantee. See also: What does "authenticity guarantee" mean?
If the inspection reveals that your watch is a fake, it cannot be certified. In this case, you will be notified by our support team and receive an immediate refund of any payments you have already made for the watch and certification.
If, during certification, the watch is found to contain key replacement parts (e.g., different hands) that do not bear a brand name or logo, we will reach out to you.

You will then have three options:

1. You can accept the certification results and proceed with your purchase. Your watch will be shipped to you within 1-3 business days.

2. You can cancel your purchase. In this case, we will return the watch to the seller and issue a full refund of both the purchase price and the certification fee.

3. We can ask the seller to reduce the purchase price. If you agree to a lower price, we'll pay you the difference after delivery of the watch.
Our general return conditions apply to the return of Certified watches. If you buy from a professional dealer, you can exercise your legal right of withdrawal within 14 days of receiving the watch and you’ll receive your money back quickly and easily.
There is no legal right of withdrawal when buying from a private seller.
No. Certification is optional, and not at all mandatory when purchasing a watch that is eligible for Chrono24 Certified.
Watches marked Partner Certified have already been certified as authentic by a verified watchmaker working with/for the dealer. Participating dealers are carefully selected by Chrono24 and adhere to our strict Partner Certified guidelines. The relevant watchmakers have been audited by us and have the necessary qualifications and resources to certify the watches.

If Partner Certified is not available for the watch you want to purchase, you have the option of adding certification for an additional charge of €249 with Chrono24 Certified. In this case, the seller sends the watch to our certification center, where it is tested and certified by our in-house watchmakers.

Regardless of whether you choose a Partner Certified or Chrono24 Certified watch, there is no difference in the process or the quality of the certification. Our definition of authenticity, standardized authenticity check, and verification of the watchmakers ensure that our high quality standards are always met. See also: Who checks the watch?
If you choose to add Chrono24 Certified, we will charge an additional fee of €249to cover the costs of insured shipping and certification by our in-house watchmakers. Although shipping costs vary depending on the delivery location, we charge a fixed amount for all buyers. Our watchmakers will send your watch directly to you after certification. After successful certification, you will receive a digital Certificate of Authenticity confirming the authenticity of your watch. In addition, you benefit from an authenticity guarantee. See also: What does “authenticity guarantee” mean?"
Chrono24 Certified is available for watches from certain brands with a sales price starting at €5 000. For these watches, you can book certification by our in-house watchmakers for an additional charge of €249.
The Certificate of Authenticity contains information about the brand and model of the watch as well as the date of issue. The watch’s serial number, production year, reference number, and TC number are also shown on the certificate. If the watchmaker notices any deviations from the original condition with regard to authenticity or the replacement of individual parts during the check, these will also be noted. You have exclusive access to the Certificate of Authenticity after logging into your Chrono24 account.
Together with your certified watch, you will receive a digital Certificate of Authenticity including an authenticity guarantee. This guarantee is based on our definition of authenticity and is valid for 30 days from the certificate’s date of issue. If you find that your watch does not meet our definition of authenticity, please contact our support team. They will look into the matter immediately. Depending on the circumstances, we will either refund the full purchase price or replace the relevant part(s) so that the watch fully complies with our definition of authenticity.
