Do you have any questions?

Certified means that a watch's authenticity is checked and certified by a verified watchmaker. The test is comprehensive and a further sign of Chrono24's commitment to ensuring you get not just the watch you want, but one that meets your every expectation.
1. Find the Certified icon
Look for the green Certified icon in the listings.
2. Decide which watch you want and click to buy
Simply select your favorite watch and start the purchase process.
We'll indicate on the listing page whether the certification of your watch is already included or if you can book it as an extra option.
3. Certification by a verified watchmaker
Before you receive your watch, it will be checked and certified by a verified watchmaker. The watchmaker ensures that your watch matches the details in the original listing and checks the watch's authenticity.
4. Get your certificate
As soon as the watch arrives, you can access the corresponding certificate of authenticity in your Chrono24 account.
Certified means that a watch's authenticity is checked and certified by a verified watchmaker. It's an additional guarantee that you'll receive an authentic watch that meets your expectations.
Buyer Protection is our basic guarantee, which you can also rely on when you purchase a Certified watch. Buyer Protection allows you to take advantage of services such as payments via an escrow account and insured shipping. Our support team is also available to help you at any time.
A lot of watches on Chrono24 already include certification, and some watches give you the option of ordering certification by a verified watchmaker at the time of purchase. You'll recognize these watches by the green Certified icon in the listing. If you opt for certification, you can simply add it to your purchase for €199. Insured shipping and VAT are already included in the price.
As we are continually adding new watches to our Certified program, it's worth checking your favorite watches for the Certified icon from time to time.
If certification is already included, you'll receive your certified watch at no additional cost. You pay the purchase price of the watch as usual via our escrow service.
If you book certification for a watch that is not already certified, you pay the purchase price of the watch plus an additional €199 for certification. We will only issue an invoice for the certification if you expressly request one.
If certification is available for a watch, you'll see the green Certified icon in the search results and in the listing. As we are continually adding new watches to our Certified program, it's worth checking your favorite watches for the Certified icon from time to time.
It depends on the watch. The authenticity of vintage watches cannot always be proven and certified 100%. If there's any doubt, we'll reach out to you and let you know.
A watchmaker verified by Chrono24 checks and certifies the watch. This is done by a professional and with the utmost care. Specifically, certification includes the following:
Condition of the watch: The watch's physical condition is checked to ensure that it matches the details in the listing.
Scope of delivery: The scope of delivery (e.g., original box, papers) is checked to ensure that it matches the details in the listing.
Authenticity: The watch is extensively checked for authenticity and then certified.
As part of the Certified program, only watchmakers who have been verified by Chrono24 may examine and certify the watch. Regular quality checks and proof of expertise ensure that the watch is only tested by experts and in accordance with our standards.
This normally takes 1–3 business days.
You will receive your watch as listed, including the original box and papers (depending on the information provided), as well as a certificate of authenticity.
Yes. As soon as the watch arrives, you can access the corresponding certificate of authenticity in your Chrono24 account.
The authenticity of a watch is not as straight-forward a subject as you might think. Among experts and the global watch community, there is no uniform definition or consensus of what "authentic" actually means. For example, a watch might be in its original condition but have a small replacement part inside: is this watch authentic?
As the world's leading marketplace for luxury watches, we specialize in watches and want to be as transparent as possible with our customers. That's why the authenticity of every important watch component is assessed separately during the certification process and checked for deviations from the original model.
The watch will not be certified and classified as authentic if:
  • The movement is not authentic
  • The case is not authentic
  • A non-original part (replacement part) has been fitted that bears the manufacturer's brand name or logo
  • If a watch does not pass certification, our support team will notify you, and you'll receive an immediate refund. If you purchased certification for an additional fee, we will refund that amount as well.
If isolated modifications (e.g., finishing with diamonds) or essential replacement parts without a brand name or logo (e.g., different bracelet or hands) are identified that were not included in the original listing, you will be informed of this during the certification process, so you can decide if you still want the watch.
We will notify you, and you'll receive an immediate refund. If you purchased certification for an additional fee, we will refund that amount as well.
If the watchmaker finds any discrepancies from the description of the watch in the original listing, we will reach out to you, so you can decide if you still want the watch.
The return policy for Certified watches is the same as our general return conditions. If you purchase a watch from a commercial dealer, you have a legally mandated 14 days from the delivery date to decide if you want to return the watch. There is no right of return for purchases from private sellers.
