Before you receive your watch, it will be checked and certified by a verified watchmaker. Among other things, the watchmaker checks whether your watch matches the listing information and whether it complies with our definition of authenticity.
3. Receive your watch and digital certificate of authenticity
After successful certification, you can rest assured your new watch is genuine. This is confirmed by a certificate of authenticity, which you can access digitally after receiving your watch.
If you purchase from a private seller, we will hold the purchase amount in our escrow account for 7 days after you receive your watch. Please note, however, that private sellers are not legally mandated to accept returns.
Certified is our new certification service whereby verified watchmakers check and certify the authenticity of watches to provide customers on our marketplace with a worry-free buying experience. After successful certification, you'll receive a digital certificate of authenticity that confirms the watch meets our definition of authenticity and matches the information in the listing. If you book certification for a watch that is not already certified, you pay the purchase price of the watch plus an additional €199 for certification. We will only issue an invoice for the certification if you expressly request one.

Condition check: We check whether the condition of the watch matches the information in the listing, including the complications, winding mechanism, chronograph function, and more. See also: How do we define authenticity?
Scope of delivery check: All additional items, e.g., original box and papers, are checked for completeness and accordance with the model reference.
Stolen watch check: We check whether the watch's serial number is listed in the leading stolen watches databases. This ensures that there are no thefts reported for the serial number.
According to our definition of authenticity, we consider a watch to be authentic if it is either in its original condition (as it was when it left the manufacturer) or contains a maximum of two service parts that do not originate from the manufacturer and do not contain a trademark. Permissible service parts include the crown, bezel, hands, or push-pieces. These will be noted during the certification process and listed under "Notes" on the certificate of authenticity. If they notice the condition of the watch differs from the information in the listing (e.g., additional scratches) or that key replacement parts without a brand name or logo are present (e.g., different bracelet or hands), they will reach out to you.
You typically have three options of how to proceed:
You accept the results of the certification and decide to proceed with buying the watch. In this case, your watch should be ready for dispatch and shipped to you within 1–3 business days.
You decide to withdraw from the purchase due to the discrepancies found. In this case, we'll ship the watch back to the seller and refund you your payment from our escrow account.
At your request, we can contact the seller and suggest adjusting the purchase price. If you agree to a lower price, we'll send you a partial refund from our escrow account after the watch has been delivered.
