Description |
Vacheron Constantin's 1921 is a watch that has a rather unusual layout - with the crown and dial oriented towards 2 o'clock. That's because the watch is modelled after a driver's watch from the 1920s
While drivers watches are often thought of now as sporty timepieces (no doubt inspired by the chronographs of the 1960s and 70s), it's important to remember that driving was reserved for only for the wealthiest at the beginning of the 20th Century. It makes sense that only a solid gold, finely crafted watch would satisfy these high-speed socialites. The Vacheron Constantin Historiques collection is the brand's way of paying tribute to the watches from the company's archives by modernising and producing them for the contemporary market. |

Certified watches can be identified by the green "C" icon in the search results and in the listing. You can also filter search results to only view Certified watches. On the listing page, you can see whether Certified is already included or whether it's an optional add-on to your purchase. See also: What's the difference between Certified Included and Certified Optional?
2. Certification by verified watchmakers
Before you receive your watch, it will be checked and certified by a verified watchmaker. Among other things, the watchmaker checks whether your watch matches the listing information and whether it complies with our definition of authenticity.
3. Receive your watch and digital certificate of authenticity
After successful certification, you can rest assured your new watch is genuine. This is confirmed by a certificate of authenticity, which you can access digitally after receiving your watch.
If you purchase from a private seller, we will hold the purchase amount in our escrow account for 7 days after you receive your watch. Please note, however, that private sellers are not legally mandated to accept returns.
Certified is our new certification service whereby verified watchmakers check and certify the authenticity of watches to provide customers on our marketplace with a worry-free buying experience. After successful certification, you'll receive a digital certificate of authenticity that confirms the watch meets our definition of authenticity and matches the information in the listing. Certified watches come with a three-year authenticity guarantee. See also: How is the watch checked?
If you've selected a watch with Certified as an optional add-on, you can book certification for an additional charge of €199. In this case, the watch will be checked by one of our in-house watchmakers before being shipped to you. See also: What's included in Certified Optional?
If you book certification for a watch that is not already certified, you pay the purchase price of the watch plus an additional €199 for certification. We will only issue an invoice for the certification if you expressly request one.
The check includes the following:
Authenticity check: We check both the exterior and interior of the watch against our definition of authenticity. See also: How do we define authenticity?
Condition check: We check whether the condition of the watch matches the information in the listing, including the complications, winding mechanism, chronograph function, and more. See also: How do we define authenticity?
Scope of delivery check: All additional items, e.g., original box and papers, are checked for completeness and accordance with the model reference.
Stolen watch check: We check whether the watch's serial number is listed in the leading stolen watches databases. This ensures that there are no thefts reported for the serial number.
Private sellers are not legally mandated to accept returns.
